While driving it seems to loose power, just stops running while driving. It will randomly start back up after a while and run fine. No pattern to when it stops running, i.e. not a particular time of the day-day or night. This last time it happened, in town driving then all of a sudden it felt like it just lost power. Tried an hour later to start it, it wouldn't start. Then tried again after another hour and started up right away and was able to drive it home no problem, ran just fine. ? if it might even be the alternator? not sure. Thanks for your assistance.

Next time it happens don't wait for nothing-do below immediately to determine whether it's fuel or spark problem:

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it.
