Electrical problem
1998 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Replaced my engine with an engine from a 1996 same make and model - both were v6 (4.0 L). After completing replacement tried to start and it is turning over, but has not started. Also no lights in instrument cluster including the odometer - the headlight, interior lights, and buzzer indicating door open or key in ignition works. Installed new distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and plug wires as part of engine replacement. Verified all wiring appears to be hooke dup properly. No fire from coil as we pulled and checked along with checking all fuses. Also AC compressor engages without AC cut-on - just by installing fuse under hood (short someplace here although AC was not disconnected as part of replacement). Any thoughts? Right now thinking it could be park neutral switch or crankshaft position sensor. Thanks.
