the car all of a sudden would not start. Acted as if a bad battery...ie dim lights not power to electrical door locks or windows. Then there was power to all. It acted as if it had a short. I jumped the car and it started fine with everything working. ran it for a bit but could not let the car idle or it would instantly die. battery and alternator seem to be ok. Also the battery connections and terminals were cleaned and inspected. What kind of gremlin do I have?

sounds like the alternator, your engine died because there was not enough juice to power electric gas pump and after that the battery recovered some charge by itself wich means yout battery is good, after that you jump started it puting some charge into it until it died again, test your alternator 4 free @ most local auto parts stores.
