I have a Grand Cherokee TSi 2wd and the transmission wont shift past 1st. Will any jeep transmission from a 4.0 swap in or do I need a specific one?

you must use the correct specific transmission. This way you pay once, you put it in once, and you go on your way.
Of course you may get lucky and try it another way but get the trans number off the case where the oil pan is attached to the transmission on the left side. Need rag and flashlight, then put a Chrysler remanufactured transmission in it. It will have a guarantee.Make sure you clean and test the transmission cooling system.
One job, one price, one repair finished. Make sure the engine is good enough to make it worth the expense.
