On my 1997 jeep Cherokee 130,000 milage my jeep wont crank over very easily without giving the gas pedal a couple pumps. after engine starts for the first 20-30 minutes of running it will stay on but before that i have to keep the rpms up or engine will shudder to off. Also the jeep vibrates more than normal when on the gas. vibration stops when the automatic transmission shifts or when i let go of the pedal.

Is the check engine light on? It sounds like there is a miss in the engine. Also, check to make sure the catylatic converter isn't plugged.

It sounds like there is a problem with one of a few things. It could be a vacuum leak, a plugged or stuck EGR, idle air control valve (IAC), throttle position sensor (TPS), fuel pump... However, without a check engine light, I can't be sure. Check for vacuum leaks. Also, check the EGR valve to make sure it is working and the valve isn't carboned to a point that it is sticking.

Let me know what you find.

after driving back from the shop i was hearing a poping noise in the driveline... took a look and saw the u-joints were busted up pretty bad... obviously dont want to drive the jeep now that that is happening but the rear end isnt stock. whats the best route of going looking at it. the u joints in the forward attach point look as if they are almost to small.
