I have a 1996 jeep grand cherokee V6 with 170k miles on it. Whenever I drive it for about an hour without stopping(besides redlights and stop signs) it will start revving high and it doesn't want to go into 4th and 5th gear easily. The longer I drive it the worse it gets. Eventually it will automatically go into overdrive and I cant take it out of it. After that it will soon shut down and the in-cabin computer will say "trans. Over temp." My mechanic said the transmission is fine. Is it a computer problem?

Well. If the tranny is cooled by your radiator, try an aftermaket tranny cooler.

If ya gotta ask. Maybe someone else should do it for you! If you cause a tranny leak, the fluid will be on the road behind you in 1 mile. That said. If the rad cools the tranny, there will be 2 steel lines bolted into the radiator. If there are 2 lines. Usually rubber going to a small radiator in front of the big one then disregard!
