I am having problems with my 1996 jeep cheerokee the only way it will start is to hold the gas pedal to the floor it will just sit there and grind the starter untill I push the gas pedal to the floor. The mileage on this is over 100,000 miles. The size of the engine is 4.0 six cylinder. Hope you can help with this problem.

Try turning the key to on for 4-5secs. Then off then on again 4-5secs. Do it three or four times. Now see what happens. If it starts ok, check fuel pump pressure. If not start it your way and test pump pressure.
