I have an oil leak and am wondering what needs to be fixed to repair the problem. I sprayed the top and underside of the engine with degreaser to determine where the leak is coming from and it seems to be coming from a an area right underneath the oil filter. I checked the oil filter and it is on tight so I dont' think it is the oil filter. What else could it be? It only leaks when the car is running.

It could be coming from the oil pressure sender, usually located near the oil filter.

If you don't see it leaking there, you can put a dye into the oil, drive the car for a day or two, then inspect the underside with a UV light. This should pinpoint the leak. Many shops will do this for a nominal fee.
It could be leaking from a valve cover and running down the side of the block which is why the dye method works better.
