Over the past year, I have been having problems starting my Jeep. I have replaced my neutral switch, starter, starter relay, and ignition switch, and nothing seems to help. When it occurs, which is randomly, when I turn the key, all my power will come on, but it will not turnover or start. I have it to where I can manually start it under the hood when I happens, but I am tired of getting soaked in the rain when it wont start. Some have suggested it's the ECU. But it runs and doesn't go crazy. COuld it be a short somewhere?

Did you ever figure out what it could be?

My 1996 Cherokee Sport does the same exact thing.

It will just absolutely randomly not start. I turn the key, power comes on, but nothing at all happens in the engine to crank it over.

No clicking, no nothing.

Im boggled.

. So wierd I got home and then a few hours later went to start my 96 jeep cherokee automatic. And nothing I hear the fuel pump I think in the back make a noise when I turn over other than that nothing. No clicks. Everything electrical works. Even tried to 'jump' even though I knew the battery wasn't drained but just to be sure I attached my external jumper and it showed that my battery was full.

Any ideas?

I may have singled it out to being a short in the starting wire from the ECU to the Starter.
