my jeep started this morning: went to the doctors, back home then it would no longer start:
The radio and lights are still working but when I try to turn it over I get one click and nothing else.
Is this the starter or the battery?

Thanks

Hello,

Could be the battery, try jump starting it if it starts go by your local auto parts store and have them check your battery and charging system.

I just tried to jump it: gauges are showing at 16 for the battery, lights and whatnot are still working and I still get just one click and no turning over of the motor.
Thanks

Are you able to determin were the click is coming from? I believe near the battery is the following starter relay, it could possibly be the culprit. Here is a pic...

One other thing you say you have a 94 cherokee v8 well neither the cherokee or the grand cherokee show a v8 engine for 94. .

yes, it is a v8
my jeep has a 318 in it, it is a limited edition cherokee.
The click is coming from the passengers side of the side of the motor.
is there a way to check the relay fuse?
Wow didn't even think of that thanks

Thanks for all your helpful ideas, I will have my husband look into these when he gets home.
Isn't that weird that my motor is showing as a 93
it is a 318 with a 5.2L and I know it has 8 plugs Thanks for all your help once again.
