1993 Jeep Cherokee rotor snapped after replacing cap and ro

I just changed the cap and rotor, after attempting to start my rotor failed and shattered. Put the old rotor back on same thing happened. I also replaced the plugs and upgraded to 8mm wires

Hi there,

Make sure that the rotor is sitting fully on the distributor shaft and ensure that the new cap is correct, something is striking in side the cap.

With the cap off, you might want to inspect the roundness of the shaft. A few ways you can do this, here is the easy way

First make sure the coil is disconnected.

Needs 2 people. When the cap is removed. You want to use a pencil and lay the point up against the shaft. Hold your hand against something and make sure it doesn't move. Have your buddy crank the motor. When the shaft rotates you will be able to see if it's out of round.

If it's out of round, it could be why it's cracking the housing.
