My Jeep vibrates severely while maintaining speed (giving the truck a little gas) between 43-47mph. If I hit a small bump at this time, the vibration becomes even worse. If I'm coasting at 43-47mph, my car drives smoothly, or if I accelerate quickly from about 43mph to 50mph, there is no vibration. I had the front end checked out and everything is tight. The first time I experienced the severe vibration, I pulled over because I thought I had a blowout.

Are you feeling the vibration more in the steering wheel, or in the seat? If it's the seat, optimum speed for a bad driveshaft joint to act up is 45mph. A CV joint can be bad, but you sometimes can't shake or move it like you can a regular U-joint. I'd check these out. Hope this helps.

Hello. This sounds all too familiar. However I could maintain speeds up to 65mph before hitting that large bump or pothole sending my front end into insane vibration. My steering wheel would also feel like it is shaking out of control.

The dealership replaced a part called the steering damper, and that baby purred over those same bumps after that. It cost $160 for them to fix it, check it out though as I have a '98 and I'm not sure what all changed (if anything) from '92-'98.
