My problem:
My jeep constantly overheats and the voltage gauge reads low.
Just had a new water pump installed, antifreeze is good, engine runs OK. Alternator puts out 14.4 volts, battery puts out 12.3 volts with engine off.
Wondering if the timing is off and causing the overheating?
Thanks,
Kevin

Have you had the radiator flow tested? It could have arestriction. Also has the thermostat been repalced? It may be stuck partially open. If the alt is putting out 14 at the battery, you may have a bad connection at the gauge or the gauge may be bad.It looks like the gauge gets its reading fron the computer, pin #36. Check all connections at the alt and be sure pin 36 has a good cnnection at the computer
