I have a 1987 jeep cherokee. My Family's only vehicle is uotta commision it has always been a good vehicle until wife was driving last week. It went berzerk. It stated shaking violently and losing most all power. It sounds like its missing sputering. You need to take off holding it in low gear. No power real gutless. Staying into the gas sounds really rough missing then at about 20 mph it starts shaking real bad. I pulled all plugs and did a compression test. All cyls at about 110-135 lbs. Then put on new dist cap rotor and spark plugs. No difference. I double checked all electrical connections. Then checked fuel pump and filter. Still bad. Does it sound like it may have jumped 1 or 2 teeth on the timing chain? Would it run at all if it did? Do You have any suggestions on what or where to look next? Thank You for any advice.

Check the camshaft and crankshaft sensors first the if they are good then pull the plugs turn engine by hand put #1 cylender to top dead center on compression and pull the distributor cap and see if rotor is on the #1 spot for cap if it is a little off or further then you may be looking at the timming belt or chain jumped you would have to change
