I can turn the ignition off on my 97 XK8 but the car continues to run and the ony way I can turn it off is to shake the battery and it turns off instantly. What seem to be the problem?

There is a connector near the battery. It is a two wire white connector. Be sure this is not touching anything and that is doesn't have corrosion on the terminals. It is a transit relay connector that is used during shipment from the factory. It will keep the car running if it is setting in some water, touching any metal, or corroded.
