Check Engine Light
Hello, I have a 1995 Jaguar XJS Convertible, V12 with 84K miles. Recently the fan belt broke and the engine overheated slightly. Now the check engine light is on and I would like to know which scanner tool to purchase. The car has an OBD1 sticker with an OBD2 plug on the drivers side. I could take this to the dealer, but would like to do my own work.

This is the hard part you seem to be at the cross-over year '96 and on is obd2 but before that was obd1 sometimes they have the obd2 plug what you need is a obd1 compliant with a plug adapter for obd2 or a code reader that does both.
