1996 Jaguar XJS Driver Window will NOT go down or up

The driver side window went up and will not go down. I Checked fuses for windows, all ok. The passenger window is working fine.

How do I check if it's a bad switch?
Is there a way I can check the window motor in the door before dismanteling the door?
