Computer problem
1988 Jaguar XJS V12 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My speedometer is not working. I replaced the transducer next to the transmission. I cleaned the printed circuit board and added two redundant grounds, one specifically for the speedometer and one for the entire board. After doing all of this, the speedometer still does not work. In fact, the oil pressure gauge is acting up; it is maxed out. The trip computer is no longer recording miles driven, but it still is recording gallons used. I am stumped. Help please. Do I buy a new printed circuit board or a new speedometer or a new instrument cluster? Or, do I go back and clean everything again? Thank you.
P.S. The tach is still working. The cruise control is not working but it did not work long before the speedometer stopped working.

Hi there,

Thank you for the donation,

A customer of mine had a similar problem with there Jag a few years ago and in my work shop we did just about everything we could to sort it out, very much as you have, the only way we got it fixed in the long run was fitting a different complete cluster as well discovered a small fracture in the circuit board, I hope this is of some help.

P.S. Have you done a diagnostic scan as yet?
