My car was running fine. Then it wouldn't start. I found that it was low on oil, very low as in out. I added oil but now it wont start. I think the sensor has to be reset perhaps but not really sure.

Hi elasage,

Thank you for the donation.

There is no sensor to reset so it should not be the cause. Check if it is ignition or fuel system failure causing the problem.

1. Ignition system failure.
IGNITION COIL
Turn ignition off.
Disconnect appropriate ignition coil harness connector.
Measure resistance between ignition coil terminals.
On S-Type, resistance should be .5-1.0 ohm. On XJR, XJ8 and XK8, resistance should be .54-1.04 ohms. On all models, replace ignition coil if resistance is not as specified.

2. Fuel system failure.
XJR, XJ8 & XK8
Regulated fuel pressure should be 43.5 psi (300 kPa) more than intake manifold pressure.

It now appears that no fuel is being "pumped" to the rails. I believe that the fuel pump needs to be replaced. Is this easy? Anyway to test this theory?

Hi elasage,

Check for blown fuses. # 7 (20A)
Check the fuel pump relay for power input and output to fuel pump.

Fuel pump is located in fuel tank and you need to remove the fuel tank to replace it.
