I have a 98 jaguar xj8 v8 when I drive the car at times the engine will cut off with no warrning. You can put it in netural and it starts right back up and you can keep going. Then somtimes it comes up safe mode, also I smell raw fuel inside the car. One of the codes in it was a maf sensor so I replaced it but it hasnt changed anything. I have done a complete tune up including the fuel filter. Now I get codes (P1000) and (P1643) if you can help with this it would be very helpful. Thank you

You have a failed throttle body. Every so often these throttle bodies slam themselves closed to clean any carbon build up. What happens is they stick shut causing the engine to stall. Same thing with the fail safe message (throttle body).
