Ny 1997 Jaguar XJ6L was has been working fine. But last night, I parked it in the driveway and when I tried to start it this morning, it didnt even crank when I turned to key to the "start" position.

I tried to jump start it thinking the battey may be weak, but it did no good. I also checked all fuses that had anything to do with the starter or solonoid but they appeared to be fine.

Can you give me any tests or other componants to check that may have caused it to stop starting all the sudden?

Thanks

Does it click at all? Be sure you are in park or neutral. If yes, turn on your headlights and have someone watch them. If they real dim or out, then there isn't enough power in your battery to turn the motor. Check the start relay with a test light for power in and out. If no, try borrowing a rely from some non-esential part of the system and plug it into the start socket and try to start. If yes, move to the starter solenoid with your test light. Test the lead from the soleniod to the starter and have someone turn key to start. If solenoid clicks but you have no power here, it is probably bad. If you do have power your starter has probably gone south.
