The car at times will start and run, but will not stay running on its own. It will always fire and run, but not keep running on its own. It is like the advance is not working. Then after a while, it will start and stay running on its own.
This usually happens when you first start the car, but has happened as the car is in traffic.
My thought is that there is a problem with the control box, or maybe a switch that is operated by the ignition switch that operates the control box.

Sounds like the idle speed control unit isn't functioning. This ais located in the top of the intake manifold in the middle of fuel injector row. It may just have to be removed and cleaned.
