Engine Mechanical problem
1989 Jaguar XJ6 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

RECENTLY CHGD PLUGS, CAP AND ROTOR (CAR WAS RUNNING) NOW CAR WONT START ... SEEMS FUEL NOT GETTING TO CYCLINDERS, AM GETTING SPARK TO PLUGS ... WHEN I TURN IGINITION ON FUEL PUMP ISNT COMMING ON, HOWEVER, I BYPASS AND RUN A WIRE FROM BATTERY STRAIGHT TO FUEL PUMP IT IS PUMPING BUT CAR STILL WONT START ... NOW IT DOES APPEAR THAT THERE MAY BE AIR IN THE FUEL PUMP (YOU CAN HEAR IT) BUT THERE IS NO BLEED VALVE, THIS IS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS ALLOWED TO RUN OUT OF GAS,

SO A) HOW DO I BLEED THE SYSEM
AND B) HOW DO I FIGURE OUT WHY THE PUMP ISNT INITIALIZING WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION ON (WHERE IS PUMP RELAY ETC)

FUEL DELIVERY
XJ6
The fuel system is a recirculatory type. The fuel tank has an electric pump which draws fuel through a fuel filter to the fuel rail. A pressure regulator is mounted on the fuel rail to maintain a constant fuel line pressure.
Intake manifold vacuum is applied to a diaphragm inside the pressure regulator. Excess fuel returns to fuel tank. The fuel pump is energized only when Electronic Control Unit (ECU) receives a cranking signal or engine RPM (running) signal. This prevents fuel injectors from flooding the engine if an injector is being held open
