I have an '88 and know exactly what you are dealing with. The autoleveling suspension was only used in '88 & '89. These were experimental years for Jaguar and the hydraulic suspension was one experiment that didn't work. There is a kit available from jaguar that converts to gas charged struts, but it's over $700.00. I believe it is Monroe that sell a gas charged replacement for much less. You may have to look around a bit, but they're out there. Also, you will have to plug off the line at control valve on the passenger side fender well 'cause this same fluid system also controls your power brakes. One more thing. This system uses a special mineral oil. I get it from NAPA. PENTOSIN-CHF-11S. It's about $20.00 a quart, so you don't want to waste it. Hope this helps.
