I have an 88 Jaguar XJ6 and reverse works beautifully, but I have no forward gears at all. The another online repair guy Roscoe007 told another Jag owner that there was a limp mode switch and a clutch switch on the drivers side of the trans that was probably his problem. I looked and I have no electronics on the side of my trans whatsoever. As a matter of fact there is no electronics or wiring to my trans at all. Ive heard when a reverse band breaks you have no forward gears in an American automatic like a 727 Chrysler for example. I also know this Jag trans has a reverse band (at least thats what I call it) So I guess what I am asking is what is wrong with my Jag? The trans oil is clean, with no filings or grit. The trans oil is full, and NOT burnt. Reverse works immediately cold or hot, but absolutely NO forward gears, the car does not even try to move. Do you have any ideas? Thank you
