Engine Mechanical problem
1968 Other Jaguar Models Two Wheel Drive Automatic 4000 miles

Hi - I have a newly rebuilt engine in my Jagaur 420G. The engine has been carefully run over 3000 miles. The oil pressure sender unit went faulty so I changed it. Now however (assuming that the pressure sender and guage are working correctly) _ I am seeingthe following symptoms - On start up when the engine is cold and the engine is idling ( 7500 rpm ) - the oil pressure reading goes off the end of the gauge (60 is the highest reading on the guage). When the engine is warm, the engine idling reading goes down to 20, however when I drive the car the pressure reading goes way up again ( ~60 )

Can you help?

Thx Tony

Either you have a bad sender, or the little flap in the oil filter is stuck, which prevents the oil from actually circulating through the filter. You'll want to correct this asap.
