was driving on the back of my field and I stop to put in 4x4....put tranny in "N" and put shifter to "4L" and the green indicator came on, but when I put tranny in "D" all the lights came on my dash and the truck shut down....no power anywhere, no windows, no lights, nothing.

Hi 1989trooper,

Check for

1. A dead battery.

2. Disconnected or dirty battery terminal.

3. Broken ground strap at engine or trans.

Maybe the 4W engagement caused some wires to snap as it might have been be hanging loose near the shafts.
