I would like to put strip lights under the dash and back seats of the truck. In a perfect world, have the lights wired to the dome so that they turn on when the doors open but I am wondering if it’s possible to also have it wired to the AUX switch so they can be turned on and off independently. Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes, you can have the light wired to the interior lights and have a cutoff switch to disable the additional lighting system. After connecting to power use a switch to interrupt the power feed. You can use any ground. I have included the interior lighting system wiring diagrams which show you where to connect the power to. I would tap into power at the black and light blue wire. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.
