Ignition lock cylinder programming

I lost my keys. If I change the ignition lock cylinder will my car start or do I have to have it reprogrammed?

You are right around the time when the keys were coded with the immobilizer It could go either way Chances are, however, it will need programmed.

I would have you send a pic of the key, but that's the problem. LOL

To save a headache, you may want to contact a locksmith and have him make the key for you. That way, you won't have to replace the tumbler.
