Key is stuck in the ignition in the run position

My key is stuck in the ignition in the run position I can crank it and drive and everything. It's just when I go to turn it off and remove the key I can't. What exactly do I need to do or buy to fix it?

Good morning,

The lock cylinder has locked up and needs to be replaced.I attached the procedure below for you for the replacement. You can also call a locksmith and they will come to you and do the repair on site.

Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle (Without Key)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system.
3. Remove the steering column trim covers.

4. Drill out the locking button (2) on the rear of the housing assembly (1) using an angle drill.

5. Remove the ignition lock cylinder (1) by pulling outward from the steering column.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the ignition lock cylinder (1).
7. Remove the metal shavings from the steering column and ignition lock housing assembly.
