Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Hyundai Tiburon 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 40.000 miles

My 1999 Tiburon automatic all of a sudden wont start, there is pleanty of gas and oil in it. The engine started sputtered and died. It sounds like it wants to start but obviously something is missing, also I can smell gas inside my car. I admit my car could use a service.

First, if you smell fuel, check for leaks. If none are found, then you need to check for fuel pressure at the engine and spark at the plugs. If I had to guess, I would say there is no spark to burn the fuel and that is causing the smell. If you remove a plug and it is wet with gas, that is the problem.

Here are the two procedures for checking both fuel and spark.

Let me know what you find.
