Engine Mechanical problem
2006 Hyundai Sonata 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I was just wondering:
How long do the timing belts usually last?
Is there any warning when they are about to go bad?
What is the average cost to replace at a shop?
Is this something the average person can do?

Hello,

I cannot seem to find the reccomended change on the timing belt.

The cost will depend on the engine size.

The 2.4L will be in the cost of around $1000.

The 3.3L will be a lot more because the engine has to be pulled out in order to change it.

If you are mechanically inclined then you may be able to do it on the 2.4L Motor since the engine does not have to be pulled out.
