My Sonata has had a problem with the headlights flickering in the past. We took it to a dealer but they couldn't find anything even though the lights seem to be very dim as do the interior lights. Now the car will randomly stall out. It seems to completely shut off electrically. Lights, air, windows, everything. The battery is strong though it feels like the battery is dead. Can it remain full if there is a problem with the alternator? Help!

Hi shelshel,

If the alternator is bad, the battery would not be fully charged.

I would check the charging voltage to be sure. Check the battery terminal and grounds for loose connections. Check all body grounding points too, they would cause the lights to flicker if connections are bad.

Will do. After removing the battery there seems to be a corroded wire that looks suspicious. May be the culprit. There has been an ongoing electrical problem and I suspect that as this wire has slowly corroded it has caused several seemingly unrelated problems. Now that it is all the way through the car is dead. Keep your fingers crossed...after the gas prices I don't look forward to expensive electrical repairs.
