Engine Performance problem
2002 Hyundai Sonata 4 cyl Automatic 120000 miles

My car has been misfiring when its in gear I had all the spark plugs & wires also a tune up done on it & it still did it, so I had the timing belt changed, but it is still doing it....the misfire gets worse with the ac on & now the mechanic wants me to change the coil do you think that's what it is? Please help

Engine running rough or misfiring can be cause by the following-inspect and test all the following below:
1.Defective spark plug.
2.Inadequate spark/coil,defective spark plug wire.
3.Lack of compression
4.False air leakage.
5.Faulty fuel injectors.
6.Insufficient fuel pressure.
7.Contaminated fuel.
8.EGR valve that is leaking.
9.Oxygen sensors.
10.Throttle position sensor.
