My airbag light has been on for a few weeks now. I finally found out where the sensor is on the car. Can you confirm that it is located under the passenger seat. I want to tell my mechanic so he can take a look at it. Or do you recommend I take it directly to the dealership? Thank you.

The fault that is commanding the SRS lamp on might be from a failed seat mat sensor or a faulty pyrotechnic. If you take it to your mechanic, he may not be able to use the information regarding the location of the module(which is most likely the sensor for crash detection) because that may not be the source of the fault. The dealer might be better able to assist you with this issue. A word of caution, just because the lamp is lit does not mean the SRS will be inoperative, it just means a fault has been set and if a crash detection occurs, the SRS will deploy all the bags as hard as it can.
