i just got this 2000 sonata,
it started about 2 weeks ago when i came back from a short trip from a grocery store. when i came back from the grocery store in less than 5 minutes the car wont start. after triying for about 10 miinutes it started and was fine for a few days and then again a couple of days ago it wont start after driving it for a few minutes and trying to start it again in a few minutes(it was fine for a few days). yesterday the car just completely gave up on me. it has been a vegetable for 2 days now. it will crank but the engine is not catching and sounds like its out of gas( i have plenty).
at first it happened when i would drive and try restarting it in few minutes now it just wont start at all. as i said it will crank but the engine isnt picking up. had some of my mechanically sound friends look at it, they said it sounds like the engine is out of gas. it drives ok. PLEASE HELP

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it.
