Hi there, you replied to ask me if the light was coming on, on the dashboard.
No it is not coming on.
The car is tootling along, then it just judders and seems to go into neutral (it is an automatic)
We have to pull over and switch off, then restart after a while.
Do you think it could be the gear box.
Thank you

HAs the check engine light come on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Also, is there any noise coming from your catylatic converter?

When it seems to go into neutral, does the engine rev smoothly?

Thank you kindly.
Yes the car does run smoothly.
But we do not get anywhere, there is no power at all.
You are very kind with your help.

If the engine revs smoothly but the car doesn't move in gear, it does seem to be a problem with the transmission. The only thing that confuses me is the idea that it was hard to start a few times. That tends to make me think it is a problem with another item. However, at this point, I would recommend having it looked at by a transmission tech for his / her opinion. If the trans fluid is full and the car doesn't move, it could be a sensor, torque converter, front pump...

I wish I could be more specific, but this is one that will need to be checked one thing at a time.

Let me know what you find.
