2003 Hyundai Santa Fe rough idling like it has bad gas or b

my suv has had the check engine light on for a week or so now and it is idling very rough as though there was water in the gas or it had bad spark plugs. I have checked the plugs and they are great they were changed about 9 months ago. I used some gas treatment in a full gas tank but that did not help.
I had trouble about a year ago or so with a very similar problem which I fixed by cleaning a sensor on the air intake but this has not helped this time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
