Electrical problem
1996 Hyundai V4 Front Wheel Drive Automatic 117000 miles

My Hyundai Accent will not start. When I turn the key nothing happens. The headlights dim, the lights on the dash go out but the engine does not turn over. I ran a jumper from the positive to the terminal on the starter and it turns over just fine but will not run. Why is it that the key ignition will not start the engine?

If you have to jump the starter solenoid to crank engine over-wire problem or the transmission inhibitor switch/NSS or the ignition switch itself.

Also the ignition system has a wire going to the ignition switch to power the system if this wire is open the coil will not have power therefore No start.

For a start have the ignition switch check
