The van was running sluggish I took to dealer and they claim the oil was not changed enough, so that in turn damaged the oil control valves. Then they said I need a new engine or a rebuilt engine I went there now they claim they can put the pieces back together and it can't be fixed under warranty. I do admit we did not change the oil enough but a new car should be able to go alot of miles without an oil change. It only has 37,000 miles on it. Now the dealer said they can't put the car back together again because I drove it there and now I want to drive it out to real mechanic what are my options? Steve

You have the wrong idea about oil changes, It makes NO difference that the car is new, or old, the owners manual tells you what the frequency should be, normally every 3,000 mile, or 5,000 if synthetic oil is used. It's a shame to ruin an engine for lack of oil. If it is true that the engine siezed or was severly damaged, then the only options are, buy the new engine, or get one from a reputable rebuilder.
