My engine light came on and some times I smell gas, I had it check and they say its the catalac converter. I had a oil change done at a place and they never removed the oil, just added 4 more quarts. I had the oil change and I was wondering if over filling my oil and me driveing around for a month or more with 8 quarts of oil could cause a blocked valve, or bad lifter.

It could have ruined your cat with all that oil in there. It had to be burning oil with that much oil in there and it had to go thru your cat. Why do you ask about the a blocked valve, or bad lifter? What valve are you refering too?

Becouse I have to bring it into a shop and I had explained what happened ( with the 4 xtra quarts of oil) and the said it could of also done that damage to the lifters and clogged the valves. If there is a problem there too.
And since then after they took the 4 quarts of oil out my car has lost power and the engine has a clacking sound, there response was too much oil wont hurt the car but not enought oil will, so I believed them had them write out a copy of the recite and the complaint about to much oil, they said if I have a problem to get back to them, so do I bring them the paper that says my catalac converer is bad?

Too much oil can cause problem's blow seals out and it will burn oil none stop because the extra oil has to go some where when the oil is that far over filled and can damage the cat.I would bring in that paper they gave you and tell them about the cat and the rough running and the clacking. But I will say good luck on what they will say I would and try and contact the owner of the place you got the too much oil from and see what he say's if the other people you talk to doesn't help you. You may have to go to small claim's court. Unless you have something in your state that handles automotive dispute's without going to court.
