Hello I have a '99 Hyundai Elantra that recently starting overheating. After driving maybe 5minutes guage moves to hot (actually past it). I pull over and wait until it cools before I drive again.
I added coolant which was low and it still overheats. I know that my throttle postition sensor is not working for a fact. Can this be a side effect of that?

There aren't any external leaks. According to the car's manual when I check the upper radiator hose and it is hot (like the engine) the thermostat is opening and letting coolant in the engine. Do you have any ideas what could be wrong?

make sure the radiator fan(s) are coming on properly. faulty TPS will not cause overheating. also remove and test thermostat to ensure it is not stuck open. this can actually cause overheating as well.

Thanks bluelightnin6 for the advice. I'll check the radiator fans and thermostat then go from there.
