2004 Hyundai Accent intermittant no start

Sometimes after a short drive when I go to restart the car I get nothing. No digital display no crank. Nothing. Dont want to just throw an alternator and battery at it. Any suggestions?

If it does eventually start, the alt and battery are fine. Don't replace them. As far as the problem, does anything turn on such as dash lights, head lights.
