Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Hyundai Accent 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 105k miles

I have the 2000 Hyundai Accent and the Engine Light has come on BUT now when I start the car the Engine Light flashes. It mostly flashes when I come to a stop or slow down for stop signs/lights. It also does not have "power" when the Engine Light is flashing. I have had some people tell me that it"may" be the Mass Air Flow Meter. It almost feels like the engine is not getting any fuel and doesn't want to go...When I am on the highway and going speed limit (55mph) it runs fine and the light does not flash. Can you please advise me to what the problem is? Thanks for your help!

your problem is a engine misfire, this is the only thing that will cause the light to flash. this is usually fixed by replacing the spark plugs and spark plug wires or in some instances a coil may need replacement. if you go to autozone and have the vehicle scanned for codes (they do it for free) the code can narrow it down to exactly what sylinder is not working. hope this helps
