Inner cabin latch doesn't release the hood allowing me to get to the second latch, I removed the plastics from the inner latch and cable is still there so problem is under the hood, any help on how I can get it open?

Can you get a video of what it does when you pull the latch on the inside? Usually it is just the handle that breaks and so if you grab the cable with pliers and pull it you can pop the hood. Clearly we will need to fix the handle but at least that will get it open for you now.

Let me know if this works and we can get more detail on the latch. If it does not then clearly we will have another issue so we would need the video.

I attached the process for replacing the cable because it shows how to access it and if it needs to be replaced you have it. However, I am pretty sure if you pull the portion of the cable that I circled in the last attachment it will open the hood.

Thanks

It's not the handle that is broken. I already removed the handle and the cable is still there. When I pull it it does nothing but retract back to normal positioning.

Okay. Can you get a video of you doing this so that we can try and figure out what may be the issue?

Okay. That is great. So this means one of two things. Since the cable is not just pulling out or is very easy to pull it is still attached but that means it is either the cable is seized or the latch is seized.

How hard are you pulling the cable? Clearly we don't want to try and break it but try giving it a hard pull just to see if you can get enough tension on the latch for it to let go.

When you are pulling on that release a little harder, have someone at the same time pulling up and down on the hood.

If this doesn't work, then we may need to remove the grill (cut it) to gain access to the latch and then we would need to replace the latch. However, if you pull that release cord and hold tension on it and someone pulls up and down on the hood, I suspect it will break loose.

Already gave it a few good tries with a helper and it still did nothing. Where exactly would I cut in order to get to the latch?

I attached a picture of the grille of a 2014 and the yellow part is the latch release. Do you have the same grille? If so, that will make it a little harder to know where to cut. Clearly if you are going to cut it then it doesn't really matter as it will need to be replaced. However, we want to try and find where this cable goes into the latch because we need to pop the latch from there. That cable connects to the latch as shown in the second picture at number 1.

However, if you have a grill that you can see that cable, then you may be able to pop it without cutting it.

Can you just get a picture of the grill on your vehicle and we will see if there is a way to do it without cutting?

I would suggest having someone pull the cable as far as possible with pliers like you were, and then you use a pry bar or screwdriver to push that yellow latch towards the driver side of the vehicle.

Is there any history to this? When was the last time the hood was opened? It sounds like your latch is just seized closed which is not great, as you are finding.
