My wife hit a deer on the dr. Side about 2mths ago. We thought it was only cosmetic but about 3weeks ago the battery went bad. The pos. Post was bent and the case on the battery was split. I put a new one in and now the battery is corroded as if it had been in there for yrs. Any ideas as to what to look at next. And should I replace the cable from the starter. Thank you Doug

Hi Doug,

If it is the battery terminals that are corroded, the cause would be the cable terminal. They were contaminated by the acid from thel previous battery damage.

Pouring some hot water onto the oxidations would clear them and a coating of grease would prevent it from recurring.

Unless the cable is badly corroded, there is no necessity to replace it.
