I was wondering what could be the probable causes that results in sputtering, and while warming up the car idles erratically from 1200-1600. Also my fuel mileage has gone down considerably from my 520 km a tank to maybe 420 a tank IF that. I use 91 octane unleaded as ordered by my engine. Different fuel companies have different fuel mixtures, would the sputtering perhaps be removed by changing to different gas company? My engine has only 90K, it does drip a drop of oil from around the oil filter, car has a decent tick, but otherwise i would consider it running well once it is warmed up. Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

I would check for vacuum leaks, then check the coolant level and finally purge the air from the cooling system. You could pull off the Idle air control valve and clean that as well. Plug wires could really be a problem too. Finally I would consider the EGR valve and PCV valve.

Look those things over and let us know. You don't have to flat out replace those items. I am not suggesting that. Snoop around your engine compartment.
