the car starts and runs, however when I put the car in drive it goes dead. I will continue to run in reverse and neutral but when it is put in drive it goes dead. What would cause this to happen?

Idling speed is higher than specified but that is not the reason for the engine to stall.

Seems the trans is binding causing the problem.

Are you able to move in reverse?

Yes it will go in drive and reverse....I beleive that the problem is the motor & transmission mount. There is a bad jerk when you go into drive...it shifts fine

The engine stalling in forward gears should not be affected by the engine mounts unless the jerks is causing something to be tugged and stalling the engine.

A bad jerk when shifting can be caused by bad engine mounts, especially the one at rear of engine.

Thanks for all your replies.....Yeah that is what I think is happening it tuggs something when it goes into drive and the engine stalls....because if you do it really fast and press on the gas the engine will not stall and you can drive.

Seems it could be a fault with the idling system if it does not stall when you quickly accelerate.
