1988 Honda Prelude she wants to start but she doesnt

We baught a 1988 honda prelude the car was running a month ago the batterie that was in the car died so it sat for a month without starting it acts as if it wants to start but then dies we are using a batterie that is not working on all cells if had good batterie and problem presist what could be the problem as we just baught the car and the person we baught the car from was an older lady and knows nothing about cars

Is this a carburetted or fuel injected model?
