When I went to start my car it made a very loud pop sound. Now it will not start. It only makes a clicking sound. Could it be the starter? What was the loud pop?

Hi Gene Rene,

It is impossible to say what cause the pop noise.

Did you test the battery condition? The pop noise could be due to a short circuit in the battery.

I'm pretty sure the battery is good as everything electrical seems to work. What about the starter relay or the starter itself? All I get when I try to start is a clicking sound.

Clicking noise could mean the battery is weak and not able to crank the starter.

Electrical components do not require much current to operate and a weak battery is sufficient.

If the battery is good, the clicking noise would be from the starter and that could mean it is bad.

Try jump starting to see if it works.
